This site has been created to publicize and disseminate the data and results of a major research project funded by the Australian Research Council. The project, DP120101106, is entitled: 'Life, Death and Remembrance: A Prosopographical Study of British Combat Officers killed on the Western Front, 1914-1918'.The main aim of the project is to examine the life-cycles of a sample of British officers killed on the Western Front during the Great War, but this website has a broader purpose too: to examine all facets of the British officer class and the British Army during the Great War, including the officers' pre-war lives, their war service and, if killed, the ways in which they were memorialized and remembered. The detail on the site about the Officers included has been gathered from numerous sources, including their Personal Service Files where available. The research is still in the process of being added to the site. If you can assist with additional information please contact us. Articlesarising from the research can be viewed here.If you require information about an Officer listed here whose research details have not yet been added to the site please contact us.Project Leader:Emeritus Professor Michael Durey, Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia.Research Assistant:Christine UphillLast updated: 25 July 2019
